About Caswell Center Foundation, Inc. |
|
Caswell Center Foundation was established in 1999 to enhance the quality of life for persons at Caswell Developmental Center and in eastern North Carolina with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In October 2001, the Project PRIDE (PRiority to Individuals with Disabilities in the East) was a mini grant opportunity established through funds donated to the Foundation from external sources that have allowed Area Programs to apply for funding assistance when all other funding sources were exhausted. In April 2002, Project HOME (Helping Our Individuals Maximize their Everyday Lives) was established through funds primarily donated from Caswell Developmental Center employees through the State Employees Combined Campaign as a mini grant opportunity for Caswell Developmental Center individuals to have access to funds to assist them in becoming more independent and achieve a better quality of life. Caswell Center Foundation also assists in providing educational opportunities for staff at Caswell Developmental Center and professionals in the eastern region who provide services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In 2003, Foundation started its annual aging workshop series. These types of educational opportunities provided a wealth of knowledge from nationally known speakers that help enhance the quality of care individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities receive. How can you help? Caswell Center Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization and all contributions are tax deductible. The Foundation is an active participating agency in the annual State Employees Combined Campaign (SECC 2579). Caswell Center Foundation’s annual golf tournament is held in the spring on the Thursday before the Kinston-Lenoir County Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Festival on The Neuse. Donations and sponsors are needed for this annual event. Caswell Center Foundation also accepts memorial and honorary gifts. Contact Danielle Howell at Danielle.Howell@dhhs.nc.gov or Lisa Burwell at Lisa.Burwell@dhhs.nc.gov if you’d like to be added to our golf tournament mailing list, annual developmental disabilities conference mailing list, and/or general Foundation information distribution list. |
